In the late 1940s, a new plastic called Lucite was introduced. Most Lucite bags are square, rectangular, oval, or trapezoidal. Metal mounts are usually brass. Handles, made of carved Lucite, graduate from a half inch to two inches wide. Design, color, trim, and condition are the most important factors to consider when purchasing Lucite bags -- those with cracks, crazing, or warping cannot be repaired. *The estimates provided are preliminary only and subject to change based on firsthand inspection and further research. Appraisal prices refer to an item's fair market value, or what one might expect to pay for an object of similar age, size, color, and condition at auction.
